Josh, a friend of
mine and Karen's. He came up to visit one week by the
only way he can, Hitch-hiking. He has traveled to many places
in the country
like this. He had some interesting stories to tell.

"My Wife"

This painting was a
good learning experience. I've learned a new way
of working that I enjoyed and want to do more of. Everytime
I would
make a brush stroke I would then scrape it away with a pallete
knife.
As it turned out, I was also thinking about drawing everytime
I made
those scraped marks, as a result, it appears rather loose
but actually, it was done tightly.

Head study

One of those paintings
where I get the urge to feel what my paint
and brush feels like against the surface. This time I took
the time to draw something,(Josh again)
usually when I get that urge, I'll just paint some abstract
blob of brush strokes to
satisfy that craving. I imagine it is what its like for somebody
that likes to smoke and takes that first hit of a cigarette.
